Academician CHENG Jing's studio

Introduction

Academician CHENG Jing currently serves as the chair professor and doctoral supervisor of the Biomedical Engineering Department and the Biology Research Center of Medical System at School of Medicine, Tsinghua University, director of Biochip Beijing National Engineering Research Center, and chairman and president of CapitalBio Group Co., Ltd. So far, He has made a range of major innovative achievements in the research and development of DNA chip, protein chip, cell chip and chip laboratory, and in the application and research of health management, disease diagnosis, food safety detection and drug development, has been granted more than 300 invention patents at home and abroad, and established over 20 national and industrial standards, and won the National Technological Invention Award, Achievement Award for Returned Overseas Personnel, China Youth Science and Technology Award, Chinese Academy of Engineering Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award and other awards, and he enjoys the special allowance of the State Council.

Academician CHENG Jing's studio is an interdisciplinary design research and industrial transformation platform set up by CHENG Jing, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in the Academy. Facing the "Healthy China 2030 Planning Outline", the studio targets social problems such as global aging challenges and medical experience, and integrates multiple disciplines including medicine, engineering, sociology, psychology and geriatrics with design disciplines to carry out collaborative innovation, and create a professional system and discipline paradigm for "health design", in order to raise the innovation level of product system and service in the health care field, improve people's medical experience, contribute knowledge system to the innovative application of health industry and the construction of frontier design disciplines, and guide the industrial conversion of design results and the establishment of a health design talent cultivation system.

In terms of innovative design of health care industry, academician CHENG Jing's team has developed and produced many key equipment for national medical and health system, and won the German Red Dot Design Award for many times. During the Covid-19 pandemic, CHENG Jing, together with West China Hospital of Sichuan University and CapitalBio Group Co., Ltd., developed and designed a nucleic acid test product for six respiratory viruses, which was the first diagnostic system able to test six respiratory viruses, including the new coronavirus, in 1.5 hours in the world. The achievement was reported by CCTV Primetime News four times in one week, received General Secretary Xi Jinping's and Premier Li Keqiang's inspection and instructions of encouraging product innovation to serve the needs of the country. In the future, the studio will continue to devote itself to the research and development of products combining industry, university and institute, build a platform serving theory research and design practice, and further undertake the social responsibility of safeguarding future health and well-being.

Nucleic acid detection chip kit for six respiratory viruses

TASA participated in the design of the constant temperature amplification nucleic acid analyzer and the related chip. This detection product is the world's first diagnostic system that can detect six respiratory viruses including the novel coronavirus within 1.5 hours. At the most critical moment of the outbreak of COVID-19, the product was reported by CCTV Primetime News four times in a week. General Secretary XI Jinping and Premier LI Keqiang made special trips to inspect and approve the results, and encouraged the promotion of product innovation to serve national needs and health.

At the critical moment of epidemic prevention and control, Tsinghua University immediately donated 12,000 test chip kits to Wuhan. These kits ensured rapid and efficient detection and screening of patients with COVID-19.

COVID-19 nucleic acid detection mobile lab

TASA participated in the design of the mobile laboratory. The interior of the laboratory consists of a throat swab sampling manipulator, an infrared radiation temperature gradient virus rapid inactivation instrument, an automatic new coronavirus nucleic acid rapid detection chip laboratory and a 5G direct reporting system for test results. The laboratory can meet the requirements of "sample in-result out" high-sensitivity and rapid detection in a variety of application scenarios.
